| On a recent trip to Italy, I was saddened to observe that the scarred and stained plaster walls that were such an inspiration twenty years ago are now being covered over to reflect the new, affluent Italy. The hilltown workshops, once occupied by craftsmen making things, have been replaced by multi-national retail shops. |
